Though the blatant act of Prohibition ended in 1933, many states continued to enforce one part of the Eighteenth Amendment: Blue laws. These laws prevent the purchase of alcohol products on Sunday. Meant as a way to keep people pure on the Sabbath, states such as Florida, Utah, and Pennsylvania practice these restrictions every week. However, American citizens are not entirely pleased with this, as they feel they should be permitted to decide to drink on any day, whether or not it happens to be the Sabbath. Some states are abolishing their blue laws, but the remains of Prohibition still affect thousands.
